Two exciting changes at Howell Elementary
July 2, 2013
While students and parents are enjoying their summer vacation, Howell Elementary staff and the school's Site Based Council have been hard at work, and that work will pay off in the form of two very big changes coming next year to Howell.
First, Howell Elementary is pleased to announce that the school's Principal Selection Committee has completed its interviews, and Mr. Michael Goodenough has been selected to be the new principal at Howell Elementary School. Mr. Goodenough, who comes to the district after three years as assistant principal at Collins Elementary School in Boone County, is already on the job. Mr. Goodenough will be replacing Mr. Eric Sayler who will be retiring from education after more than a decade at the helm of Howell Elementary. But don't worry: Mr. Sayler won't be officially retiring until a few weeks after the school year starts, so you'll still see him around occasionally and he'll still be available to help Mr. Goodenough during the transition.
Second, work is almost complete on the new front office suite at Howell. The newly contructed office will finally give Howell a proper front entrance (How to get into the buidlijng has always been a point of confusion for first time visitors!), and it will provide some much needed additional square footage to a crowded building. In addition, student safety will be enhanced with the creation of a drop off/pick up area for students, and with a safety-minded design to the front entrance, which forces visitors into the building through the main office.
