SB128 Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP)

?Kentucky Senate Bill 128 Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP) has been approved by both chambers of the Kentucky General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Andy Beshear. This law allows K-12 students currently enrolled in public or non-public schools to request to use the 2021-2022 school year as a supplemental year.

Applications for the Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP) must be received by 11:59 PM May 1, 2021.

The Erlanger-Elsmere Board of Education will make a decision by June 1, 2021 on whether to approve all or none of the requests for SB 128. School districts are not allowed to decide on an individual basis.

Guidance from the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) is changing regularly as it relates to the implementation SB 128 Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP). Here is a summary of considerations for the district, schools, students, and families. The Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP) should be carefully considered by families before submitting an application. A separate application must be submitted for each child.
