Superintendent Update June 13, 2021

On Friday, June 11, 2021, Governor Andy Beshear issued Executive Order 2021-386 (EO 2021-386) lifting the requirements for masks, social distancing, and capacity limitations. Later that same day school districts received the following message from Commissioner Glass of the Kentucky Department of Education:

"Pursuant to Executive Order 2021-386 (EO 2021-386), the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has rescinded its flagship COVID-19 guidance document “Guidance and Safety Expectations and Best Practices for Kentucky Schools (K-12),” commonly known as the Healthy at Schools guidance. The use of cloth face coverings and social distancing measures are no longer mandated."

Effective immediately students, staff, and visitors are no longer required to wear a mask at activities on our campuses. We will no longer require social distancing and we will resume full capacity for all events. This includes, but is not limited to; summer school and summer programs, meals, job related duties, school sponsored events, and extra-curricular activities.

Students, staff, and visitors that wish to continue to wear a mask as a matter of personal preference are welcome to continue that practice.

I want to thank all of our EES students and families for their patience, cooperation, understanding, and persistence over the last fifteen months. Your efforts have allowed us to reach this day. Thank you.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Board Office or your child’s school.
