Miles Elementary earns national recognition

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) is pleased to announce Miles Elementary School of the Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District in Kentucky has been honored as a Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) school. The designation recognizes schools that are committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program and an exemplary educational environment.

"Congratulations to Miles Elementary School! It takes an entire school collaborating with an aligned counseling program to achieve RAMP," said Dr. Kathlyn Burkhardt, superintendent of Erlanger-Elsmere Schools. "Our counselors work to develop their programs to ensure they are evidence-based, research based, and aligned to the RTI Process."

Schools achieving this RAMP Model Program designation spend 80 percent of their time strategically and intentionally working proactively and interactively with students. Only 650 schools nationwide have achieved RAMP Designation. Miles Elementary, Howell Elementary, Lindeman Elementary, and Tichenor Middle School, all of the Erlanger-Elsmere district, are among those who've achieved the designation. Other schools in the district are working toward this achievement.

Miles Elementary will be honored at a recognition ceremony at ASCA’s annual conference in Denver, Colo. on July 10, 2017.

“This year’s RAMP honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession,” said Jill Cook, ASCA assistant director. “These schools used data to drive their program development and implementation so all students can achieve success. RAMP designation distinguishes these schools.”

RAMP applications are reviewed by teams of school counseling professionals. The next submission deadline is Oct. 15, 2017. Visit www.schoolcounselor.org/ramp.
