Special Education

The Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District works to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities through individualized programs which encourage and support students in their learning. Through these supports, each student’s strengths and areas of need are determined and instruction tailored to best meet their needs. The staff of the Erlanger-Elsmere Schools strive to create a working and collaborative partnership that includes the student and family as essential members of the team.

Special Education provides supports and instruction to meet the specific educational needs of students with disabilities in such areas as curriculum, methodology, materials, and through trained teachers. It also involves remedial and supportive services. Supportive services are put into place to assist exceptional students in taking advantage of, or responding to, educational opportunities or programs. These services may be integrated with, or provided in addition to, those services included through general education. Specific special education services are provided according to the Kentucky State Guidelines for students in disability areas such as:

  • Learning Disabilities
  • Developmental Delays
  • Mental Disabilities
  • Physical Disabilities (Hearing, Vision and others)
  • Autism
  • Communication
