The need to support the whole child from cradle to career and recognize a host of obstacles related to substance abuse that prevent our children and families from building foundations for a strong and healthy life. The E3C Drug-Free Coalition and the Kenton County Alliance are completing the current gap in the spectrum of substance prevention, expanding existing efforts for school-aged youth K-12 and introducing new efforts directly addressing the needs of children birth-age 5.
E3C Drug-Free Coalition
The Drug-Free Communities Federal Grant is a five-year grant ending September 2025. Vision: Healthy and Strong from Cradle to Career.
Mission:
To prevent and reduce substance use by joining community partners to promote, take action, and support our youth and families to be healthy and strong from cradle to career. Meetings: Monthly CoalitionMeetings scheduled on the first Tuesday of every month from 11:30-1:00.
Goals:
- Establish and strengthen the collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, and Federal, state, and local governments to support the efforts of community coalitions.
- Reduce substance use among youth and over time among adults (specifically, underage drinking, tobacco/e-cigarettes/vaping)

Kenton County Alliance
Kenton County Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse is a substance abuse coalition working to support drug-free lifestyles among our Kenton County youth. The group works to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use among youth ages 12 to 18 in Erlanger-Elsmere Schools and Kenton County.
Programs:
STOP ACT (Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking Act)
The project aims to address community norms regarding alcohol use by youth, reduce opportunities for underage drinking by limiting youth access to alcohol, create changes in underage drinking enforcement efforts, address penalties for underage use, and/or reduce the prevalence of negative consequences associated with underage drinking.
CARA (Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act)
The goal of the grant is to prevent and reduce the abuse of opioids, methamphetamines, and the abuse of prescription drugs among youth ages 12-18. The activities are to expand prevention and educational efforts, particularly aimed at teens, parents and other caretakers, and aging populations. To Prevent the use of methamphetamines, opioids, and heroin, and to promote treatment and recovery.
