An Update From the Superintendent

Local law enforcement will continue to be a presence on our campuses. Their investigation is ongoing and they are coordinating with federal law enforcement to identify the source of the original social media post. There is still no evidence that the threat was credible and it appears it was done to generate mass fear and disrupt school operations. While this is affecting our school district significantly, other school districts in the region are dealing with similar issues.
We plan to have our schools open tomorrow.
It is in difficult times like these that I am thankful for the communities of Erlanger and Elsmere. In my lifetime I have witnessed numerous instances where the people in our communities have been a source of support for each other. It is one reason why I am proud to be a member of this community and serve it as superintendent of the Erlanger-Elsmere Schools.
Our first priority as a school district is always the safety of our students and staff. Families entrust their children and loved ones to our care each day and it is a responsibility we take very seriously. I hate that events like this have become a part of the educational landscape and create fear for our students, families, and staff. The care and support our communities have demonstrated and value will allow us to move forward together for a better tomorrow.
We will be excusing all student absences from school today.
Tomorrow we will adhere to district and school policies regarding student attendance (use of parent or doctor note to excuse absence, etc.).
School counselors are available to assist students that may be struggling with today’s events. Contact your child’s school if you would like your student to be seen by their counselor.
KHSAA Bylaws, district, and school SBDM policies related to student attendance and participation in athletics and extra-curriculars shall be enforced.
